Scarf delight!

Hi Girlies *waves gorgeous scarf at you*

So today I have done an ickle bit of shopping. Quite a boring but wise haul really, mouthwash, antihistmines, rollers and the most humongous brush.

Of course, as useful as they all will be. It would not be the done thing to return home without something a bit more treat-like.

So I just had to find something that little more special. . .

Ching ching!!!

Yay, my own McQueen scarf. Sort of.

Obviously this is not a genuine Alexander McQueen scarf, like the treasure that Milly from Pearls and Poodles http://pearlsandpoodles.blogspot.com/search/label/Alexander%20McQueen%20scarf and Clarehttp://thefashiontellersnotes.blogspot.com/2010/02/im-barbie-girl.html  (and now Jess from Star Violet beauty) adorns but there are some similarities and I expect it was designed as a much cheaper alternative at Miss Selfridge.

I have had a quick peek again at Milly’s blog and my scarf, as special as it is, is by no means the same as her absolute beauty. Obviously the two, with mine at £12, are not going to compare. The teeth in the skulls are different, the border of the scarf is different, the skulls are proportioned and placed differently, the McQueen scarf looks bigger and much whiter and as Jess said, their scarfs are silk and so, so, so soft. Mine just feels like a scratchy hanky and already has a loose thread but I love it and my scarf has a little bit of appeal in a kind of poor ‘orphan scarf’ way!

I’m glad I found my scarf lovely because after seeing Milly and now Jess (Star Violet http://www.starvioletbeauty.com/2010/06/god-save-mcqueen.html ) so proudly flauting theirs, I was almost about to part with £145 for one just like theirs and I can’t really justify it at the moment.

I think I will evantually because their scarves look so divine. I hope they keep making regular guest appearences in the girls’s posts and videos. However, now that I have my £12 darling, I can wait a little before I purchase the Queenie. I’m going to use my scarf lovely to roadtest the whole notion of scarves while I save a little more. That way when I finally purchase a McQueen beauty of my own, I will know that I really want it for what it is and that it suits me. Until now, I have never really worn a scarf. I’m not even sure how to and £145 seems a lot to spend on my very first one but one day . . !

Right, that is enough dreaming, my scarf and I are off for a dance around the living room! Let me know if you have picked up anything nice lately.

Until next time *gives a little jump and waves scarf madly* *And again* *And again* *And again and . . . skips off*

Helllllloo Honey!

Helllllloo Honey!

Hi all!

Let me tell you about a beauty haul of a different kind, a natural one. If you follow this blog, you will already know I am curious about natural beauty regimes and am considering moving in that direction especially now my Clinique products are running out. I have already started to gather and use a few products branded as “natural”.

First of all, there is my wonderful Moroccan Oil. I still love this product and yes, I’ve caved and purchased the full size. My hair is generally more managebable, softer and seems healthier especially the ends now that I’m using this product. However, I have found a couple of drawbacks too. After a couple of days, my hair does feel greasy and seems to need washing every couple of days as opposed to two or three times a week. I think I’m suffering from a build up of oil and am struggling to wash it out with my new staple Naked shampoo and have had to result to Curly Wurly and Big for a clarifying wash. I think it is time for me to wash and style my hair once without the Moroccan Oil to stop further build up but am I brave enough?! I’m not sure, I am seriously addicted to this stuff which is why despite some kind suggestions I have not surrended to the cheaper but probably as effective aragon oil instead. Despite some drawbacks, I can not imagine life without Moroccon Oil now.

Secondly, there is the Naked shampoo and intensive conditioning treatment. The shampoo is ok. My hair seems shiny but that might be the oil. I think this shampoo does clean my hair a little but I’m not convinced that it is anything special and think if you are using it regularly then you are going to need a throw a clarifying shampoo in to the routine once a week or so too. As for the conditioning treatment. Again, I think it is ok but I am not at all worried that I do not have a back up of this product.

Thirdly, we have my Dead Sea Salts exfoliator that I have spoken about before. I have found it messy and impratical to apply this product to dry skin as directed and actually now use it on wet skin. This seems to work well. I have also been dabbing a little bit on to blemishes over night before rinsing it off in the morning. At the very least, none of the blemishes have got worse when coated in the dab of salt. With some blemishes, the product seems to have helped in the healing of the spots.

Fourthly, we have honey. I have been coating my entire face in pure honey for about 15 minutes and it leaves my face so soft and refreshed once rinsed off.

Fifthly, we have lemon juice. I have tried covering my face in lemon juice and leaving for five to ten minutes. It stings a little when applied. When washed off, I feel like my face has had a bit of a workout. However, it does not seem to have helped much with blemished skin. However, it works wonders for my very, very dry hands. I have never used anything so effective on my hand. I just run half a lemon over my hands before bed and then for 24 hours afterwards my hands are so soft. Unfortunatly unless I repeat the treatment, they do seem to dry out again very quickly. I would still say if you are going to try any of these, I would say try this one and prepare to be impressed!!!

Finally, we have Olive Oil which compliments the Lemon Juice hand treatment. Once I’ve cleared the build up of oil in my hair, I would like to try this on my hair and am planning to use it to enhance my new tan.

So do you have natural beauty tips or raves? Please tell me, I’m getting in to this whole natural thing. I have to say that none of the above (apart from Moroccan Oil) are really finds of my own. I have read about them on various blogs but have relied heavily on posts from Bubblegarm’s beauty blog. There is so much information here and she really explains why the products might work too. And what is more, she test drives them all to give you more of an idea if something might be worth pursuing. So if you are thinking of moving in a natural direction then some of her posts are worth reading! http://bubblegarm.blogspot.com/search/label/Natural%20Remedies

Oops. . .

Did I tell you about my second resolution this year? It was to save money. . .

Oops, let me introduce you to my purchases today.

Firstly, we have the most expensive. It is almost two weeks and my Clinque Clarifying lotion has almost ran out as the Sales Assistant said, it would. The more I use this system, the less it stings. And yes alright, I had to be convinced but with practise, it seems to take less time too. For now, I’m sticking with it. So today I splashed out and brought the three standard bottles. I was also given a couple of samples. Skin goodness and extras, I think this purchase can be excused.

Purchase number 2 was the Clearasil Scrub and Deep Cleansing toner. For over five years, I had very bad acne on my upper back and despite having acne nowhere else, it would not be shifted. However about a year ago, I read that  you should use on your acne only what you would use on your face and this brought me back to Clearasil which I used when I had breakouts as a teenager.  So I used two Clearasil products religiously, three times a day each, for a month or so and my back cleared. Now I use it more as and when. I try to make sure that I use at least two Clearasil products on my back each day. Sometimes it is two scrubs. Sometimes a lotion and a scrub. Today was the first time that I have brought the Deep Cleansing Toner. Normally I get the Deep Pore Treatment but this toner was reduced in Superdrug and looked more or less like it did the same thing. We’ll see. . ! Obviously for spotty reasons, this purchase will be excused!

Thirdly, we have Cotton Wool. For the Clinique and Clearasil. Obviously, this will be excused by association!

Fourth, we have a Gosh lipstick. Amethyst, purple. I loved Gosh Darling and I also have been enjoying Barry M hot pinks such as 100 which seems to have a bluish tinge. I am very excited about wearing Amethyst. . ! This purchase will be excused as I had the willpower to put Gosh Nougat back and buy just the one lipstick. Well done Me!

Fifth is a Shimmy Shimmers palette from ME ME ME. I think this is the first item that I have brought from this brand. Each palette has five shades in and you are meant to swirl your brush in to the palette so you pick up all the different shades and then you can use the multi-toned mix of powder to highlight. There are some beautiful colours in here. I brought the pink version but I think there was also a gold one and a bronze one. I’m trying to stop myself from picking these up. They might be good for contouring my pale face and if not then surely they would make beautiful eyeshadows. This purchase can be excused because obviously, I need a treat and I haven’t brought anything that is not necessary today ;-)

And finally, we have gloves. What can I say, it is so cold and my hands are starting to dry up and that stings. . ! Plus it was two pairs for £1 in Primark so probably the most sensible purchase of the day.

Hmm, lets tot up my Sensible Shopping Challenge. . , PASS, yay!!! ;-)

So, what do you think? Have you tried any of these products? Have you been shopping lately, what have you been buying? There is nothing better then a nose in somebodyelses shopping bag, hee hee!
