All about the lashes. Always!

All about the lashes. Always!

Isn’t it so?!

For me anyway, it seems there has been times when that is all it is about, the lashes. Okay, when it not about the hair or the scent but over the last year, I have tried four (and fallen for at least three) new mascaras, interestingly all from either L’Oreal or Max Factor. There was the Double Extension Tubes, the Lash Extension Effect, the Million Lashes and now, the False Lash Effect.

Max Factor’s latest release claims to double lash size to give the impact of false lashes.

False lashes, no glue?!

Kerching!

It is no wonder that this ended up in my mitts.

Here are my lashes before application.

Here are my lashes after one coat.

And finally, here are my lashes with a couple more coats.

To be honest, I think that on some lashes, it looks like I may gone a coat too far. In fact, one coat of this mascara would maybe have been enough if it applied uniformly but I always seem to miss some lashes in my clumsy application. I think it may be that I am not used to the fat brush, Max Factor’s biggest mascara brush ever.

I just can’t quite catch all the lashes. You can see clearly in the last picture of my lashes where I’ve caught the same ones again and again.

The fact that you need to use so little of the formulation to coat the lashes reminds me of the L’oreal Million Lashes. However, this formulation is not so inky or messy. There are the occasional smudges especially when I try to get those more obsure lashes but I have found any residue easy to wipe away.

Actually I think False Lash Effect falls between the two mascaras that have previously worn my Holy Grail mascara crown. False Lash Effect transforms the lashes and gives results almost as dramatic and divaish as the Million Lashes but the finished lash line also has some definition, seperation and certainly a whole lot of extra length. So in that way, I find it similar to the Lash Extension Effect.

I’m liking the middle ground where this mascara stands. Sometimes when I find a mascara that delivers extreme results then I love it for a month or two but then as it dries out, I find myself craving something a little different. Lash Extension was great but I have mentioned before that that evantually I just got a little bored of been able to slap my mascara on each morning without thinking about it. On the other hand, when I first tried Million Lashes, it made me feel like some glamorous star but it soon got tiresome blotting the brush and the smudges away each morning before work.

In False Lash Effect, I may have found my compromise. There are clumps but in reality, I think these are less in your face then they seem to be in this pictures. False Lash Effect does look false to a degree, it does look not look natural but it still looks in place. The final thing that I love about is this mascara is, despite quite a heavy formulation, it seems to curl the lashes and seems to really open the eye area up which makes me look wide awake which can only be good at 6.30 in the morning.

I know that False Lash Effect seems quite popular. Have you tried it? What do you think? What is your favourite mascara? Am I missing out on any other amazing lash jackets?

Oh and the eye shadow is one of faves at the moment (when I’m wearing shadow at all. With mascaras such as this one, I don’t always bother).

It is Frosted Almond from Front Cover. The colour is great and the quality is ok so you might see it here again sometime.

My July Favourites!

leave a comment »

My July Favourites!

– L’Oreal Volume Million Lash
This mascara has lived up to my initial expectations. It is fantastic. If anything, I like it even more now. I haven’t noticed the overpowering scent for a while; the careful light hand approach (which is required) now seems effortless and it still looks very classy in it’s gold casing.
You can read my review here http://essjay23x.blogspot.com/2010/07/mascara-mascara.html

– Sable and Satin Taupe
I’m loving Sable eyeshadow at the moment. I know that you might think it quite a dark, heavy colour for the summer but since I’ve been laying off the foundation, I have needed more striking eye make up. I’m finding that shades closer to my skin tone such as Modellette and All That Glitters just highlight my poor skin and the lack of foundation.
Sable is a way to get striking eyes with the minimal of effort. Colour block it, a slick of mascara and that is my eyes done. I love Satin Taupe but I feel it needs more work (usually with another shadow and liner) to create the same impact.

– Hue
I can never stay away from my first Mac lippie for long. I love Hue. A nice natural, low maintenance lip for the summer. I also like the fact that it is not that red or pink as I’m finding some of my more pink/red lips draw attention to any imperfections or sore skin on my face. You can read more about Hue here https://essjay23x.wordpress.com/2010/01/19/the-first-date-my-mac/

– Lipgloss
I am not the biggest gloss fan but I have worked them a little this month. I’m finding that they have felt increasingly refreshing and moisturising on my lips as the temperature has risen. I have found myself picking up two lipglosses often. One is Underage from Mac ( pictured above). I have always been a bit wary of this gloss as sometimes it looks a bit artificial on my lips and messy like the lipsticks, Barry M 101 and Gosh Darling. However when I use a light hand with Underage, the slight shimmer is much more flattering. You can read about my first impressions of Underage back in January here https://essjay23x.wordpress.com/2010/01/19/the-first-date-my-mac/
Also Kim has done a great review of Underage here http://misskc027.blogspot.com/2010/07/mac-lipglass-comparisons.html.
Gloss-wise, I also like the Jodie Kidd Shell and not just because it was a freebie from a magazine. Shell is very similar to Underage but I prefer the formulation. I find Shell nicer (easier) to apply. I’m always surprised that it looks less pink then Underge in the tube as I think they give a similar finish on the lips with Shell maybe finishing slightly more neatly.

– Dark hair
I have dyed my hair again. Last time I dyed it, I chose Medium Golden Brown. This time, I have gone a shade darker to a Warm Dark Brown and I like it. The Medium Golden Brown was ok but I preferred the colour before it started lifting. So I thought it would be an idea to go one shade darker.

In my dreams, I would love to be a blonde. Oh, how I would! However, I am now starting to face the fact that in reality, I’m always happier when I keep my hair at the dark end of the spectrum. It seems to frame my features better.

– Intimately Beckham
This is an old favourite but I particularly like it in the summer (yes, I do wear it in the day), it is one of those scents that seems to intensify in the heat and linger a while. It is gorgeous and reminds me of carefree days in Ibiza. This perfume never fails to make me smile.

– Eat Love Pray
I have always been a little bit curious about this book. Angela’s (http://ohsheglows.com/) recent posts and news of the forthcoming film only heightened this. So when I finally got my hands on Eat Love Pray,  I devoured it in less then a week. It is a brilliant read and very thought provoking. I might go through it again now with a marker. I do like a good quote!

So that was my July favourites. Interestingly, there are not really any new products in there. So that makes me think that either there isn’t anything that new and exciting out there at the moment or just maybe I’m getting the hang of this saving thing (yeah, right, after that TopShop haul)! What do you think? Have you any July favourites? Is there anything I’m missing out on?

Mascara, mascara. . !

Mascara, mascara . . !

When I brought the Max Factor Lash Extension Effect mascara earlier in the year, I thought it would be my favourite forever. You will find an earlier rave here https://essjay23x.wordpress.com/2010/02/14/happy-valentines-day/

I was wrong.

Let me introduce you to my new best friend, Volume Million Lashes, from L’Oreal.

I am shallow.

This mascara may look all classy, ladylike, sleek and striking in it’s gorgeous gold tube but Million Lash is actually a lot more demanding then Lash Extension yet J’adore!

One of the things I loved about Lash Extension -and let there be no doubt about it- was that it really did extend how long my lashes look. I’ve done a post and you’ve seen the pics but I would say that Lash Extension Effect probably extended my lashes by about a third and yet they always looked natural. I am very clumsy when it comes to make up and grooming. I can be slap dash and boy, can I product overload but no matter how many coats of this mascara I lashed on, my lashes were always perfectly defined, ever so long and clumpless.

Perfect.

Yep almost too much so.

To be honest, it got a bit boring. I was applying the same product every day and getting exactly the same pay off no matter what I did. So samey that I guess I wasn’t even noticing (let alone cherishing) what the clever old Lash Extension was doing anymore. We needed a break so maybe it was good that Lash Extension seemed to dry up quite quickly (and started clumping ever so slightly) probably within eight weeks.

Enter Volume Million Lashes!

This really is a mascara to get the party started (what a cheesy line). It is so different from Lash Extension. This mascara makes such a statement and is quite extreme to the degree that I would imagine it will gleam equally extreme love/hate reviews.

It is not particularly easy to apply or to play down. It is very black (which I like since the shade I chose was Black) and seems to coat the lashes with the slightest touch. It can very quickly add some length and volume giving the false lash effect within seconds but be careful, because it only takes a coat more to do the not so fetching spider thing. I imagine this is how mascara was back in the day when it was first discovered/created?!

This mascara is heavy but you can wear it in the day with the right attuide, the right make up and a very slight hand.

However for me, this is first and foremost my glam mascara as with this in my collection then there really is no other choice for nights out and special occasions. It seems to do everything. It adds length not as much as Lash Extension but still, it adds volume, it curls and it almost seems to comb through my lashes and give them some direction.

I have difficulty applying false lashes but am quite confident that if I look after my lashes daily then I should be able to build a look, to compete with false lashes, using this mascara. I feel that Lash Extension was overshadowed and disappeared when worn in heavier eye looks and with dazzledusts. I might be wrong (though I don’t think so) but I can not imagine this mascara ever been in the shadows.

Here are some pictures.
These show just a couple of coats across the lashes.

With Lash Extension.
With Million Lashes.

These show the mascaras built up with a few more layers.

With Lash Extension
With Million Lashes

Please bear in mind that Lash Extension has dried out  but I think you will all still agree, a Million Lashes just looks more complete. However it is not as effortless as Lash Extension.

Apparently there is an anti-clump wiper in the L’Oreal tube. Well, lets just say that the Million Lashes formulation overpowers it. In the same way that I never got clumps with Lash Extension (until it started to dry), I always get clumps, to some degree, with Million Lashes. You will get clumps and they are a devil to get rid of. In fact, you probably won’t succeed so just try to keep the clumps quite small by making sure that the mascara wand has a minimal amount of formulation on before you paint your lashes. Small clumps sitting at the roots are not going to ruin your look in fact, they can help to line the eyes and add a little something to your look.

This mascara does smudge and takes a minute or so to dry. If you do big, open eyes before it is dry then you are likely to end up with dots on your upper eye lid and in your eye socket. The formulation is soft but thick.

When I first used this L’Oreal tube, there was an overpowering chemical scent but I have not noticed this so much recently.

I am finding it quite hard to remove Million Lash (to apply my L’Oreal Lash Serum). I have been using make up remover but I remember with the L’Oreal Double Tubes, you had to use warm water and this dissolved the tubes. Any ideas what to use with Million Lash? I don’t want to pull my lashes out just to clean.

I brought Million Lashes in Boots about ten days ago, it was on offer for £7.99. I think the normal retail price is about the same as Lash Extension (£10.99?). Lash Extension has 6.5ml of product and Million Lashes 9ml.

Oh and by the way Girls, I mentioned that I’m using the L’Oreal Lash Serum. Tell me, do I want to buy RapidLash from Boots? I can not decide. The lash serum is more to keep my lashes healthy and looking their best, I think RapidLash should help them grow like Ardell and Lipocils.

However, Laura, Lollipop26 http://www.lollipop26writes.com/2010/06/rapidlash.html, actually seemed to lose lashes but the lure of longer, longer lashes is tempting me. Please let me know if you have used RapidLash before or will be buying it. I’d love to know what you think. By the time I decide (funny how in the end, I know that I’m going to give it a go) there’ll be none left anyway.

So Max Factor, L’Oreal, RapidLash, eye products. . , any thoughts?

Some little things and . . ?!

leave a comment »

Some little things and . . ?!

Sometimes I change my mind or discover something new about the products that I have been using and may have mentioned so today, I just wanted to keep you people updated with a couple of things.

MUA Nail Varnish

I posted about one of these recently. It was shade 10. I know I said in my May favourites video on You Tube that it was not really the colour that you would wear out. Well actually, I wore it out on Saturday and I loved it. In some lights it looks quite metallic. A nude with a subtle, tantinglising twist.

In conclusion, I think you can wear this varnish both day and night and that it is great value for £1. I doubt it is a contender for Chanel et al varnishes but neither do I apply it and immediatly think ‘Bargain bucket’. I’m also very impressed by the drying time, it is mega quick!

Creme de la Femme.

I love this. I know that I have compared it to to Snob and I would still say there is a resemblance between them but the two shades are actually quite different color-wise. You can see this in the photos below.

Snob!

Creme de la Femme

I am actually finding Creme de la Femme, easier to wear. Again, it is darker and a tinge closer to red then the pinky Snob. I think Creme de la Femme is closer to my natural lip shade and needs less maintenance as the colour wears away. Patching is less evident and it just seems ever so slightly more classy and mature over the course of a day or night.

I have also said that I would wear Creme de Femme when I want the lips to do the talking but actually I have since found that Creme de la Femme is more versatile then that. I have since used it to accompany smoky eyes and this lippie merges in to such a look and plays a meagre supporting role just fine. It lends the lips just enough polish to keep them looking in synch with the rest of the ‘made up’ face without overdoing it. Yep, I admit that my flirtation with Creme de Femme is growing deeper and deeper each day. Really like!

Max Factor Lash Extension Effect Mascara

This is still a great product and does exactly what it claims but the tube seems to have dried out quite quickly. Then again I have been using it quite frequently.

Anyhow, nevertheless I think that ‘m getting just a little bit bored of using this mascara every single day.

The mascara is ok for an everyday look but if I’m going out or want a little extra pisazz, I find myself mixing it with a couple of layers of the beauty tubes mascara. Sometimes I use the primer, sometimes I don’t.

For the first time in my life, I’m actually craving clumps. They can give my look an extra dimension and lend a bit of a ‘cool’ factor!

Green tea

I feel much better in myself and more energetic since I have been drinking tea. However, I have noticed that if I drink the tea on an empty stomach, I do get awfully nauseous within about ten minutes of consumption and a couple of times have been physically sick. I have felt this with a couple of different brands of green tea and regardless of the brand, it seems if I ever green tea on an empty stomach, it really does make me feel sick. It is a horrible travel type nausea too. That horrible that I will not be having green tea on an empty stomach anymore and am keeping a close eye on the situation. I’ve never heard others say of this before. Have you?

And finally there was going to be a pretty bag but uploading issues again so expect a post very soon.

So Girlies, have you got any purchases or products that you want to rave about, diss or update on? Remember I’m on a mission so keep me informed.

Tag Twist!

Tag Twist!

There is a You Tube tag going around at the moment about overhyped beauty products. Now as a blogger I haven’t being tagged but I have decided to take the concept and twist it a little for today’s post.

This post is about products that initially disappointed me. The disappointment could have been caused by poor product performance, my own personal (often unrealistic) expectations and/or hype surrounding the product and brand. However, this is not a post focusing on the way these products broke my heart. Instead it is more of an upbeat post about how I found the product again and how we found a way to be (work) together harmoniously and beautifully. The only way to be when you are on Mission Beauty like me!

I have chosen five products (or brands) who I am travelling with all the way to Location Pretty. At first, the road was rocky but suddenly our destination seems a little closer.

First up is Clinique.

As you know, I had a lot of hope for the Clinique Three Step. It is the first proper skincare routine that I have ever really used. I was impressed with the science behind it and all the fab testimonials on the internet and in the wider world.

My Clinique advisor was very impressive in her white coat and magnifying glass then came the reality of getting up a few minutes earlier each morning just to do the routine. It was meant to take three minutes. For at least a month, it was taking me ten. Everybody told me that the cleanser worked as it lathered, my cleanser was not lathering. And then there was my addiction to moisturiser, how could a few measly little dabs across my face twice a day really moisturise and balance my skin?!

Mostly though, there was this. I thought at the very least Clinique would quickly banish any facial blemishes away (and I don’t tend to have too many on my face) and for a week or so, it did and then they sort of came but these didn’t really grow too much but then came the blemishes that stung, itched and felt lumpy but actually (thank goodness) didn’t look too bad.

I decided Clinique was ok. My skin didn’t look any worse but there was also no sign of ‘skin magic’ occuring either. I decided to finish one set of the full sized product and then we would part company and I would be moving on. Hopefully to something cheaper.

However, now, months later and the Clarifying Treatment has finished. I only have dregs of the cleanser and moisturiser left and maybe I’m having a bit of a U-turn. My skin has being clear for more then a month and the system now seems to take less then three minutes twice a day. On top of this, the cleanser lathers more easily.

Also I just don’t know what I would replace the system with and I’m keen to keep a skin routine going. Initially I thought Clinique was very expensive but Step 1, the cleanser cost me £13 and I’ve had it since sometime in January. If I brought a bar of soap every week then by now, it is likely I would have spent more then £13. To date, I have replaced my clarifying lotion with an organic rose toner from Botanics in Boots but to be honest, I’m very reluctant to let go of Clinique altogether and ok, nobody seems to be able to define or describe the ingredients in the system very well but when I started using Clinique, I never endured any rash unlike recently when my consumption of natural skincare ingredients seemed to be at it’s peak!

Secondly, we have Revlon ColorStay.

Despite my not so enthuastic review on this foundation earlier in the year, I really do like this product now and if it was not for Revlon PhotoReady being released recently then I suspect that I would already have repurchased a couple of back ups of Colorstay. Ok, I still do not think that it conceals every skin flaw (but then isn’t that for concealer to deal with anyway?!) but it does seem to polish what I have. It lasts a long time (unlike a certain Bourjois foundation that I have also purchased this year) and it applies well with a brush (Warning: it will stain aforementioned brush).

I now like the fact that ColorStay feels quite light on my skin and it seems to seep in to my complexion effortless and evenly with very little work. I think I once complained that I could not feel it on my face but now I realise that if everytime I wore this foundation, I felt like I was wearing a mask then it is likely I would have felt this way because in some way, this product was not suitable for me. Quite possibly an irritant and at the very least, not a natural match for my skin. For example, if my skin had been oily then maybe my normal combination foundation would have felt too heavy. I still have reservations that there is no pump with Colorstay (although there is with PhotoReady) and with the amount of water in the bottle (however, the amount of water has obviously diminished and posed less of a problem as I have used more and more of the product up).

The price is still quite high for a high street brand but I’m starting to realise that actually I’m not as concerned about price as once I would have been. Obviously I do have to consider my income but I’m certainly more willing to pay out for a product if I truly believe it delivers the quality that I am seeking.

Thirdly, we have Vera Wang Princess.

This perfume seemed to be earmarked as staple in so many perfume collections that I thought considering my so-called perfume passion and my rather extensive collection, it was kind of bad form that Princess was not in my collection. So one Christmas request was made and Princess was mine.

I think I have maybe three or four applications left in my ever so pretty bottle yet I’ve only smelt the scent on me maybe once and this is my major critcism with this perfume. It is not as cheap as some of the celebrity lower end ones and yet whenever I spray this perfume, I can not smell it on my skin afterwards and you all know how much I like my scents . . !

I have kept using it because I can not afford to have a perfume that I’m not using and I’m hoping that it is just me, that I’m the only one who can not smell it on my own skin. I’m hoping at the very least that others, even if they too do not get the full sense of the perfume, get something of a clean, pretty, fresh waft as I go by.

The thing is this perfume smells lovely whenever I actually spray it in to the air or on to my skin but as soon as I put the bottle down and the lid back on, the scent seems to disappear. Sometimes I have even forgotten that I’ve applied perfume and gone to apply again. Surely that is not right. I have been really miffed with this perfume and have been eyeing up possible replacements and actually looking forward to finishing the bottle until this morning . . !

It was a morning the same as ever. I sprayed and sniffed, ‘lovely’ and then I put the lid on and the bottle away and the perfume was forgotten. Now most mornings that is where the story would end but today, it didn’t. There I was going about life as normal -obviously read as working very hard at work- when suddenly this most beautiful light but pretty fresh vanilla scent came over me. I looked up, on high alert, ready to chase whoever had just walked in to the room and demand they reveal the beautiful scent they were adorning and then I realised that nobody had walked in to the room. It was just me and my Princess perfume. I smelt beautiful and in that moment of realisation, I really did feel like a princess.

And well now I’m not sure what to do. What if everybody else has smelt this beautiful scent all along and my nose has just been blocked or something? Maybe it is a beautiful perfume that other people smell but the wearer doesn’t? Can I give up my own desire for beautiful scents if it means I keep wearing the prettiest scent of them all? In other words, should I keep wearing this pretty, pretty fragrance if I can not smell it because maybe everybody else can smell it?!

I’m not sure.

I think tomorrow, I will try the Lollipop26 trick of vaseline and then the perfume (Princess) and if this helps me to float around in my own cloud of pretty, pretty scent then who knows? Maybe I will be labelling Princess as a staple in my collection, after all.

Fourthly, we have All That Glitters.

This is hyped. It is in virtually every single MAC collection (starter or otherwise) post or video. I brought it on my second MAC haul. I knew the name from all the collection reviews and it looked pretty in the shop. Shimmery and a lovely light neutral colour similar to my earlier purchase (and much adored) Modellette.

I also purchased All That Glitters with the irresistable Satin Taupe and as I had Modellette, All That Glitters seemed a bit samey. So eye-wise, all my new looks were Satin Taupe based and All That Glitters was a bit forgotten. When I did wear it, I thought it looked just a bit like Modellette with a bit too much shimmer. However lately I have been wearing All That Glitters so, soo much.

Now I’m more used to and more practised at wearing make up, I find this shade incredibly pretty and it works so well with my pinker lipsticks for a day look and then for work, it works brilliantly with Ambre Rose or Hue to make me look just a little more presentable. All That Glitters lasts and does not leave me with old, tacky glitter all over my lids at the end of the day. This is one of the few shadows that I will wear without mascara. I just love it. It is pretty and understated which is kind of the look I like to go for. I think I would prefer for people to say ‘Look at her pretty eyes’ rather then ‘Look at her amazing eye make up’ (My make-up technique is not there yet anyway). Therefore, it is official, All That Glitters will regularly be appearing on my eyelids.

And finally we have L’Oreal Double Extension Beauty Tube Mascara

In one of my very first posts, I said that this mascara can give brilliant results if you apply it carefully but I also said, that I found application tricky. This is still true although with practise, you do get a better idea of how much primer and actual mascara to apply for what look. However as regular followers will know, I do tend to grab Max Factor Lash Extension Effect now when I want a mascara EXCEPT if I’m applying mascara to eyes adorned in the gorgeous Barry M dazzle/glitter dusts. I have yet to find a mascara that does not make my natural lashes look weak, stumpy, inadequate and insignificant when wearing the gorgeous Barry M dusts EXCEPT for this one. This one holds it’s weight and lends a beautiful balance to the eye make up. For this reason, this mascara will hold a place in my make up collection as without it I would have to result to false lashes and there lies another tragic tale . . !

Have any of you used any of these products? What do you think of them? How do they work (or maybe how do you make them work) for you?

So I tag . . .

Lipstick crisis!

Lipstick crisis!

 Hi Girls

I’ve had a bit of a crisis today. . , I couldn’t decide which lipstick to wear!

Option 1 was  Gosh Amersyth with Gosh Darling underneath to conceal.

There is Gosh Darling, Gosh Amersyth and then Amersyth over Darling.

Option 2 was Barry M 144, a very bright pink with Barry M 101 underneath to cancel out my natural lip colour.

There is 101, 144 and then 144 over 101.

So I guess you want to know what I’ve chosen?

Well I’ve gone with the Gosh combo (above) simply because after all my flaffing around, taking pictures and on, off so many times, time has ran out and I should be out the door very, very soon (NOW really) and as I’ve got Gosh on my lips . . !

I also think in reality, 144 (above) is even brighter and pinker (the swatch gives a truer representation then the product image) and Gosh (which does look more like the product then the swatch when it is on my lips) is just a little more wearable for a day look.

I have to say today that when I wiped the 144 and 101 off my lips and started applying Gosh, I really noticed how nice Gosh felt and how easily it went on. I have heard that Barry M 100 and 101 can be drying but personally I have never noticed this until today, when I applied Gosh straight afterwards. There was a definite difference in how nice Gosh was to apply.

Other make up that I’m wearing includes Barry M Mushroom (yay) and chocolate dazzledusts, RSVP from Benefit as a base for the eyes, Erase paste, a combination of Bourjois 10 hour sleep effect foundation and my normal Revlon Colorstay in Ivory, Maybelline Peach blush mousse with Coralista over the top and then the Max Factor Lash Extension mascara which I discussed in a recent post.

Despite my earlier rave for this mascara, I have to say that the dazzledusts can seem quite strong and heavy on the eyelid even when you keep the look light probably because the dust is not as fine or as light as the particles of a more conventional powder eyeshadow. I have no qualms with this and love the dazzledusts as you all know but this Max Factor  mascara seems to slip in to the shadows a little when worn with these dazzledusts. The frame it forms for my eye make up suddenly seems a little foggy. It is still a wearable look and I have decided to keep it on for today but I’m not as impressed as I was when I previously tried this mascara. Maybe dazzledusts need more of a volumising mascara?!

What do you think? Do you always line and mascara with dazzledusts? What mascara do you use? What do you think of my lip options? Do you have any problems with Barry M 101 (or 100, noooooooo) drying?

PS Check out http://www.makeupandbeauty.ie . I think I’ve mentioned it before but this site covers so many things make up and beauty-wise and the blog is updated daily. Amy, the blogger and YouTube Guru (Dazzledust25) has said that she will be having a competition very soon and she promises very good prizes and has said that this will include some MAC. Even without the possible loot, I really do recommend this site, if like me, you want to learn.

Happy Valentines Day!!!

I thought that to stay in the spirit of this beautiful day, I would share with you a few things that I have fallen in love with since my mission, to make more of myself, began.

* My head is spinning with love for skincare routines.

As most of you know, I have been Cliniquing twice a day and you know what, I am loving the fact that I have a skincare routine in place. The morning and night applications kind of mark the start and end of my day. What better way to start and end my day on my skin, something that is only mine. My skin, something that only I can (and do) wear. My skin may not always be one hundred percent perfect but I would say that it is a lot closer then it was six months ago and now as I’m looking at it so much more closely at least twice a day and I’m appreciating it and what it goes through each day so much more. I think, ‘Ooh, I was out in that snow for a couple of hours today and my nose itched.’ Then I have a look to see if there is any signs of the earlier distress and if necessary, take the steps to remedy it. Yep, it is official that I’m just a little too obsessed with my skin at the moment.

* I’m blindly in love with soaps from Lush.

I have never been a big fan of solid soap. It has never really homed a strong enough scent for fragrance-mad me and then it has always been quite hard work, to lather and then my skin rarely feels softer or any benefit. That was . . . until Lush! I will probably elaborate on this in my ‘Lush and I’ series but I have only used a small number of soaps from Lush but two of them, I absolutely adore.

 Honey I Washed The Kids

Sultana of Soap

I’m sure you’ve heard it all before but these are divine. They make bathtime fun and then to top it off, apparently they are good for me. After trying these, I know that it doesn’t matter what I hear about all the other Lush soaps (and products), I still will not be satisfied until I have tried each and every one for myself even the dissed ones.

* I’m hopelessly in love with Barry M.

Okay, I admit I have been flirting with MAC a bit lately and there is no denying that MAC is one hottie of a brand but I also know that one day, the novelty of this mission is going to start wearing off and my money is going to start running out but guess what? This doesn’t scare me that much because there is always Barry M and all of their beautiful colours and gorgeous products at damn right yummy prices. Barry M means I never need to go make up hungry and for that, it remains a true love.

Here is a sneak peek at the Fabulous/Barry M free gift that I got last week.

Red Nail Paint (Very excited, there is so much hype about the Barry M nail paints and this colour is perfect for Valentines).

Fabulously Nude Super Shiny Gloss (how will this look with Hue?)

A black eye liner

A shimmery grey eyeshadow (my first Barry M eyeshadow)

And finally a very hot pink make up bag to keep it all in. All of this Barry M for free, there is not much I can say to that. In fact, I’m lost for words!

* I’m loving all the way to the moon and back, the Max Factor Lash Extension Effect Extreme Lengthening mascara.

This is a very new love. I only purchased it last weekend but it is gorgeous. As most of you know, one of my biggest sins is product overload and product overload can equal clumps but not with this mascara. I can heap the layers on and there is not a gloop in site. I have quite long lashes but what I love about this mascara is how seperating and defining it is. It is like a polish for my lashes, it simply creates a beautiful frame for my eyes.

It lets the rest of my make up speak for itself. It is very easy to apply and although it took a couple of goes to get used to the extra long wand, it is easy to get in and catch the small inner lashes. It is unusual for me to apply much mascara to my lower lash line as I think this can look too much and, with gloopy mascaras, quite messy but I think this one does just enough to only compliment the lower lashes. I’m not sure that this mascara will be loved by everyone, I don’t think you can build it up to shout out to the world but for me, it does more then enough and is my one of my newest loves.

* And finally, I’m head over heels in love with you, my readers, followers and inspiration.

If it wasn’t for you, I expect that my mission would have come to a sudden halt weeks ago. Your encouragment and support has been amazing and I can only thank you all, for the big gorgeous part you have played in my life, so far, this year.  I know this sounds OTT but this mission and blog is changing not only my look but also my life and at the end of the day, it all comes back to you. My readers, followers and all of you who also inspire me too. There are so many of you Darlings out there in Blogland, You Tube and at BeautyJudge.com who have helped me so much. The cyber beauty community is amazing and very much alive. I don’t know how I can thank you all for your support. I know that my little competition gives back only the smallest fraction of what all this has given me but I guess it is a start so if you want a chance to reap a reward for your good deeds in supporting my mission then check out my competition post very soon. The competition closes tonight.

Anyway as you can see I’m brimming over with love this year and I don’t want to really end this Valentines post but I must (before I bore you with Snob again), I hope you all have had a fantastic Valentine’s weekend. I know that Jemma (Bamboozle Beauty) and Laura (Emeraldgreen88) have both done the ‘Lipstick Valentine’ so check out their blogs (links in my sidebar) to find the hot lipsticks they are rocking. They have some beauties!

Once again, I would just like to thank you for your support! It really does mean the world.
